Field Notes from 3/29/21
- Place GCP’s in sequence and be sure there is enough space between each to not weigh data and not to spread them out too much to create under coverage
- When turning on the Mavic 2 Pro, ensure it is placed on the landing pad before starting to ensure accuracy at zero altitude and reduce the risk of damage to the drone, other equipment, and yourself
- Ensure clear the area is being called out when about to take off and acknowledge when other crews are doing so
- DO NOT turn on the transmitter before the aircraft; HUGE safety risk that should never take place
- Ensure that propellers are being removed before completely placing the drone into the case
- There is not a step in the checklist to ensure that it is happening
- Make sure the SD card is formatted correctly and cleared before every flight
- Ensure PPK is formatted before flights in the DJI M210
- Do not keep the sensor unattended without the lens cap and DO NOT point it to the sun, otherwise, the sensor will be fried
- M210 batteries have an extra wire that should be velcro strapped down to ensure that it is not sheared by the propellers during flights
- Hold session button to turn off when finished with PPK
- Use married batteries to ensure cycles are synced
- PPK is different from RTK in that it does positioning after data is collected and goes through the process afterwards
- Uses GNSS logs to calculate accurate positioning information
- For tree line assignment, use SRT file format for the video
- Turn on video captions to display metadata
- Notes will be used for reference to ensure that everyone is knowledgeable on flying missions
